The Flow of Refugees
Most significant destinations from the top five countries of origin

Although the hostility has been apparent in the Middle East for a number of years, it is in recent years, culminating in 2015, that it has started to affect the rest of the world in a more significant way. Today, Europe is facing a migrant crisis, unlike any seen before.
Most of the people fleeing from their war stricken homes seek refuge in European countries. However, a fair amount ends up in neighbouring countries, unable to get any further.
This map shows five countries from which most of the asylum seekers come from, and their most significant destinations. By hovering over certain countries, the number of asylum seekers that has left - or entered the country, is shown. The data show the number of asylum seekers in 2014.

The data for the map is taken from Natural Earth, a public domain map dataset. (Natural Earth)
