9 March 2016- Macedonia said it will no longer let any migrants through its border with Greece, effectively blocking the Western Balkan route to north.

More than 54,000 refugees and migrants have been trapped in Greece and Macedonia escaping from war and poverty at home.

The Western Balkan Route is closed, at least for now.
