3  Rewards, membership, acknowledgments

·       He was rewarded by the head of the university as the best student of geodesy in 1978. In the period between 1987–1991 he was the member of a special study group “Spectral Methods in the Earth’s Gravity Field”, in the period from 1991 – 1995 a member of the special study group “Highly Precise Modelling of Geoid and its Assessment” (SSG 3.137), all that within the frame of activity performed by the Section III “Determination of the Earth’s Gravity Field” in the International Association for Geodesy (IAG). In the period from 1995–1999 he was the president of the special study group of IAG Section II “Local Modelling of the Earth’s Gravity Field and Interpretation” (SSG 3.166).

·       The acknowledgement by the Ohio State University Graduate School for the contribution in research activity from 1990-1991 in the Department of Geodetic Science and Surveying. The acknowledgement Topex/Poseidon Certificate of Appreciation that was awarded to him by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology  and Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales for the contribution in the American-French TOPEX/POSEIDON three-year primary mission (10 August 1992–10 August 1995). Together with Prof. dr. Sc. Leo Randić, he is the only one from the Faculty of Geodesy who was entered into the Proceedings on USA - CROATIA Scientific Cooperation, editor Vladimir Paar, Školska knjiga, Zagreb 1995.

·       Since 2002 he is the member of the Council for Borders in the Government of the Republic of Croatia, and the president of the Administrative Council of the Croatian Geodetic Institute. For several years he has been the member of the Editorial Board of Geodetski list, of the Croatian Geodetic Society, licenced engineer of the Chamber of Architects and Civil Engineers (the class of geodesists), member of the International Association for Geodesy, European Geophysical Society, i.e. since 2004 of the European Geosciences Union, and of the National Geographic Society.

·       He has been granted the State Reward for Science for the year 2002 by the Parliament of the Republic of Croatia, for remarkable scientific achievements in the field of technical sciences, for the contribution in the development of geodetic science and profession, especially physical and satellite geodesy (25.
